I look forward to the ladies retreat every year but especially this year since I moved to Dallas. I couldn't wait to see all the ladies from my old church and my mom at the retreat!
The Abiding Place is the home of Teresa and Bob Nix and it also doubles as a retreat and conference center. It is such a beautiful place and you feel yourself relaxing the minute you get there. It is literally in the middle of nowhere in Centerville, TX. You have to drive down many country dirt roads to get there which is definitely my kind of place :)
I love the red front door!
One of my favorite things about the retreat is getting to sit around and just catch up with everybody!
Sarah and Cecilia are sisters and the worship leaders at my old church. They always bring their guitars and keyboard and do worship at the retreat which is such a blessing.
It was so good to see my mom and then she came home with me to stay until the next Tuesday after the retreat! My dad drives through Dallas on his way home from working in Arkansas so he is going to pick her up on his way home!
The pond in the backyard is so beautiful but has dried up so much because of the drought. They also had to cut down many dead trees because of the drought which makes me so sad...they need rain so bad like the rest of Texas and I pray it comes soon! I hate the thought of more trees having to be cut down!
There was a great turn out this year and I am so glad so many of the ladies were able to come!
We have a lot of fun at the retreat as you can see in this picture! You never know what Kathy, my pastor's wife, will come up with :) This weekend Teresa and Kathy dressed up as old ladies and even performed a hip hop routine! I don't think I have ever laughed harder than I did during their hip hop routine :)
Hip hop!!! So funny!

We also do a craft every retreat and this year we made journals using magazines and craft paper.
This is the journal I made.
I also made this one for pastor Rodney...I couldn't pass up making a "manly" one with the camo paper :)
We went on a walk and enjoyed the beautiful weather.

On our walk we decided to take a short cut and I am impressed that Kathy's mom climbed over the gate!
In the future the Joy Church is going to build a cabin right here for the church to use.

It was such a relaxing and refreshing weekend both spiritually and for my flesh! I can't wait until next year and look so forward to it already!
