Weekend Recap

Friday night I got to celebrate my birthday again with Katie and Alecia since I was out of town on my birthday weekend. We went to eat at Cheddar's and then to Rao's Bakery for dessert. Once a month we go out to eat and have a girls night. I look so forward to it every month. We always have such a good time catching up! I am so glad these two girls are in my life! Their friendship is such a blessing to me :)

On my way to Cheddar's my sister, Stephanie, called and told me that Ross had an interview out of town and that she decided to come home and surprise mom for the weekend. Mom was at home and heard a knock on the door and to her surprise there was Stephanie with flowers! How fun....I remember driving home once from college for mother's day and not telling mom I was coming home. I showed up at the restaurant where dad took her out to eat and surprised her. I love surprises and it's even more fun to be the one doing the surprise. Mom was completely shocked Stephanie was standing there. We had just seen her last weekend and she never could have expected it.

Stephanie brought with her a project she was working on for a friend's little girl, Emma, that is turning 4. She is so creative and had the idea to make her a t-shirt with cute material sewed on it with her initial. She had made one before, but she sewed it by hand. She wanted to learn how to sew on a sewing machine, so I taught her how to thread the machine and bobbin since I am such an expert :) She got plenty of practice because the thread kept getting caught, the bobbin would run out of thread, everything that could go wrong did, and what should have took 15 minutes to sew turned into hours. It was the machine of course and not the operators :)

Seriously?

Even after all of that we are seriously considering selling the shirts on Etsy.... it tuned out so cute! I don't have a picture of the final result because it was late when we finished and I forgot to get a picture. I plan on trying to make one on my own so I will post a picture of that one soon.

After church on Sunday, mom and I drove to the cemetery to visit Christopher's grave and bring flowers. Christopher is my twin brother who died about an hour after we were born prematurely. We were born 2 months early and weighed 3 lbs. He had a condition where his abdomen did not form correctly. I have not been out there in a long time and we have been talking about going for a while. There was no better time to go since this month is our birthday month.

Putting flowers on Christopher's grave

It is a little weird for me every time I go out there because my parents were advised to buy two grave sites and even two caskets because they weren't sure if I would make it either. My spot was right next to his and it's a little strange to think about. I mean how many people can say they had a grave plot and a casket? It is exciting though to think about the fact that I have a twin brother that one day I will get to meet him in heaven!

How nice that ya'll went his grave during your 30th birthday month.

I had so much fun friday as usual. However, that picture confirms to me that I need to double the number of crunches I'm doing because they are clearly not working! Ha ha!
